Y0UNG, FRESH, & NEW: JAZMiNE SULLiVAN THE NEXT LAURYN HiLL?

If it were ever a secret that music runs in my veins it definitely won't be in the near future. I plan on incorporating as much music into this blog as I do into my own personal life. Who wants to buy me a new Zune? Anyway, being the love-sick romantic I am, it's no surprise that when I first heard Jazmine Sullivan's "Lions & Tigers & Bears" in succession to the much praised and critically acclaimed "Need You Bad" that I melted onto my seat at work in front of some 15" monitor and signed over my listening rights to her tunes. I was almost lulled to sleep with her thick, syrupy sweet voice and then that lil b!tch from my job decided she wouldn't do her job, as always, and I had to return back to my daily hustle. Point is, I nearly died when R. City's "Losing It" premiered because I'm an absolute sucka for any island/reggae riddim I can find so why not bumrush the FRONTA the line at FYE for Jazmine's new joint? Catch is this: Although "Need You Bad" was like Patra's own interlude into the lyrical future of love sounds I can't fall into the "norm" or the rant & rave of whatever's new like the rest of my peers. My unrelenting need for authentic, genuine artistic appeal won't allow me to follow the crowd. I can't. However I will admit that Jazmine stole my heart because something about her sound is so Lauryn Hill. They're both from up north; Hill collaborated with the likes of Bob and Damien Marley so the "island" melodies are a given; both have a real Indie feel; remember when Hill was a humble soul almost ashamed of her vocal prowess? If you know me then you understand exactly what that means. R.I.P to all the niggas tryin' to be Ms. Hill. I still love you Lauryn. I'm wishing Ms. Sullivan all the best of luck in this biz cuz it's a concrete jungle out there. If you haven't heard her hits yet sample them here:
